On the morning of July 2, 2019, Li Weisheng, director of the Boeing Aircraft Inspection Office of China Southern Airlines, and his delegation came to the School of Foreign Languages of SCUT for investigation and discussion. Professor Zhong Shuneng, Dean of the School of Foreign Languages, and Professor Zhu Xianlong, Vice Dean of the School of Foreign Languages attended the symposium. The two sides conducted in-depth discussions on topics such as school-enterprise cooperation, translation services in the civil aviation industry, professional practice practice, industry training and research.

Dean Zhong Shuneng pointed out that in-depth school-enterprise cooperation and building a collaborative education platform are the keys to cultivating compound translation talents. He hoped to carry out school-enterprise cooperation with the civil aviation system and implement real translation practice projects to further improve students translation practice ability. Prof. Zhu Xianlong introduced the talent training and curriculum settings of the MTI Education Center, and communicated with Director Li and his delegation on MTI students’ translation practice and translation project implementation.

Director Li Weisheng gave a brief introduction to the current training system for civil aviation pilots, and pointed out the shortcomings of the Chinese civilaviation industry in translation and research of foreign civilaviation literature and works, as well as the lack of professional translation talents in civil aviation. Director Li Weisheng hopes that through the multi-faceted school-enterprise cooperation with the School of Foreign Languages and the advantages of the college’s translation teachers and translation talents, the quality of civilaviation document translation can be further improved, and professional civil aviation translation talents can be cultivated, so as to promote the high-quality development of China’s civil aviation industry.
