The 6th lecture of the special training course with the theme of "Enhancing International Communication Ability" was held in the smart classroom of Building 1 on the afternoon of July 11, 2019, after five lectures given before, in order to improve the ability of international communication of the administrators to help the construction of Guangzhou International Campus, and improve the level of international education of the university. This lecture is organized by the School of Foreign Languages as its continuous effort to help the language internationalization.

Liu Yingsi, secretary of the Party Committee of the school, made a warm-up for the training. He affirmed that this training is to give full play to the teachers' professional expertise, to embody the party’s characteristics of "foreign languages to serve the public", and to provide better contribution for the international construction of the university.
In the training
The school of Foreign Languages sent a teacher team composed of key teachers and foreign teachers. The team was led by Professor Han Jinlong, head of the College English Team. Four experienced teachers including Cui Junyi, Rong Rong, Andrew Crocombe and Qu Wei provided professional and practical foreign language training for the trainees.

The teachers analyzed several knowledge points, like how to introduce yourself in different situations, how to make your English more polite, how to express yourself better when discussing problems, how to overcome the barriers and embarrassments of communication in high and low contexts... The teachers also shared some Magic Word to help the trainees better integrate into western culture and make English expression more effective and accurate.

The teachers not only focused on language, but also let the trainees realize the differences of languages in cross-cultural communicationand social concepts. Trainees on the scene made good interaction by positively responding and they all said that the training is very useful.
The relevant managers attended the training, who are from offices and units including the offices and colleges of Guangzhou International Campus, the University Office, the Office of Academic Affairs, the Publicity Division, the Graduate School, the Logistics Branch and many others.
