Liu Baochun and His Delegation Came to SCUT for Inspection and Communication

In the afternoon of June 18, 2019, Liu Baochun, director of the Foreign Affairs Office of Guangzhou Municipal Committee, and his delegation came to South China University of Technology for inspection and exchange. The symposium was held in the Research Center for Indian Ocean Island Countries (RCIOIC). Vice President Zhu Min, the relevant personnel of the Office of International Exchange and Cooperation and the School of Foreign Languages attended the seminar.

Zhu Min expressed a sincere welcome to Liu Baochun and his delegation on behalf of the university and introduced the latest developments of South China University of Technology. To begin with, the director of International Exchange and Cooperation Office introduced the internationalization programs and foreign affairs management of the university to the distinguished guests. Later, the director of the School of Foreign Languages reported the latest development of the school, including discipline construction, academic research and talent training, as well as the development plan of the RCIOIC, social services and foreign exchanges.


Liu Baochun pointed out that Country and Regional Studies are of practical significance to serve the national strategy and diplomatic situation and promote the construction of "the Belt and Road". He also noted that the University Think Tank can conduct cooperation with the embassies of China in the target countries, provincial and municipal overseas Chinese affairs offices, provincial and municipal foreign affairs offices and other departments, so as to have a more comprehensive understanding of the national conditions of the target countries and make the political research more "grounded" and targeted. At the same time, the University Think Tank research should focus on the advantageous platform of South China University of Technology to pursue better foreign exchange and cooperation work. Lastly, Liu Baochun also put forward many constructive suggestions from the perspective of foreign affairs management for the foreign affairs work of universities, the training of composite talents and the setting of special courses.
