On the afternoon of April 4, Liu Yingsi, Secretary of the Party committee of our school, gave a wonderful ideological and political lesson to all 2016 undergraduates with the title of “Outline of the Development Plan of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and Youth in the New Era”, encouraging students to shoulder the mission of youth in the new era, actively integrate into the construction of Greater Bay Area in combination with their own reality, and write a song of struggle with their youth.

Secretary Liu Yingsi first introduced the basic situation of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area in detail to the students. He pointed out that the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area is a major decision made by the Party Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping as the core, which is in line with the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speeches and instructions to Guangdong, and it is a new practice to promote the development of the cause of “one country, two systems”, as well as a new initiative to promote the construction of “The Belt and Road Initiative” and build a new pattern of all-round opening to the outside world.

After laying out the background of the construction of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, Secretary Liu Yingsi made an in-depth elaboration on the general idea of the Outline of the Development Plan of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. Through such buzzwords as “world-class city cluster”, “international science and technology innovation center” and “quality living circle”, a grand blueprint of the construction of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area seemed to jump out in front of students' eyes, giving them a clearer understanding of the future development prospects of the Greater Bay Area.

One of the key elements in the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area is the introduction of talents. Secretary Liu Yingsi said that in the context of the construction of the Greater Bay Area, the youth of the new era are faced with once-in-a-life time opportunities, such as relying on the scientific research resources of well-known universities in the Bay Area to participate in scientific and technological innovation services; cross-border cooperation, employment and entrepreneurship based on the support of special funds and incubation bases; joint cultural and artistic groups of all kinds to carry out cultural and artistic exchanges and integration, etc. The youth should make good use of the platform of the construction of the Greater Bay Area and strive to achieve deeper and broader professional development of themselves.

At the end of the class,Secretary Liu Yingsi explained the meaning of “New Era” and the mission of youth in the new era, and expressed his earnest expectation, hoping that the students would take the responsibility of national development and national revitalization in the new era, take “Looking up to the stars and being down-to-earth” as the motto of life, and take “Never forget the original intention and remember the mission” as the vane of struggle, so as to make their contribution to the country, society and the construction of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
