Zhang Wentao, director of the Department of Foreign Cooperation of Guangdong Academy of Sciences, and Deng Rui, deputy director of Meizhou Bureau of Foreign and Overseas Chinese Affairs, came to our center for communication and exchange. Director Zhong Shuneng made a brief introduction of the Indian Ocean Island Research Center to the visitors, as well as its academic research, policy consultation, talent cultivation, social services, and foreign exchanges. Director Zhang Wentao and deputy director Deng Rui spoke highly of the development plan and research orientation of the center, believing that the relevant research on the Indian Ocean island countries is of great significance for promoting the construction of the “Maritime Silk Road” of the 21st century. Besides, many feasible suggestions have been put forward for the construction and development of the Center in terms of the issues of overseas Chinese in target countries, decision-making consulting research, scientific and technological cultural exchanges, etc.
