SFL Students Visit CUHK and SCUTAAHK

From December 9 to 11, 19 SFL teachers and graduate students visited the Department of Translation, Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), and participated in a 3-day academic exchange program. During the stay in Hong Kong, SCUT (HK) Alumni Association (SCUTAAHK) warmly welcomed SFL students. This exchange program was a huge success.

Professor Wong Lawrence, dean of Department of Translation, CUHK, together with Professor Bai Liping, Prof. Hung Tao, Dr. Wang Hui and Dr. Li Bo attended the welcome ceremony. Prof. Wong Lawrence briefly introduced the academic construction and graduate education of the Department of Translation. Associate Professor Zhu Xianlong, on behalf of SFL, expressed appreciation to the personnel of the department for their considerate and careful arrangement.

4 Ph.D. students and 5 M.Phil. students shared their research findings with SFL students. The topics of discussion cover translation theories, translation history, literary translation and computer-aided translation, etc. The whole process was filled with heated discussions and friendly atmosphere. Students from SFL benefited tremendously from CUHK students’ presentations, and were impressed by their unique perspectives, industrious spirit and ceaseless academic pursuit.

Xueqi of SCUTAAHK warmly welcomed SFL students at their headquarters in Mongkok. SCUTAAHK treated students with dinner, during which they introduced the developing history of SCUTAAHK, shared their fun stories in college years, and were very much concerned about what happened recently in SCUT. President Lun encouraged students to work hard and contribute to the development of SCUT and motherland.
