On the afternoon of September 24, a five member delegation led by Insannul Kamil, Chairperson of the Construction Services Development Board of the Republic of Indonesia (a department level institution under The Ministry of Public Works and Housing of Indonesia), and Wahyudi, Chairperson of the Regional Board of DKI Jakarta ASPEKINDO(Asosiasi Pengusaha Konstruksi Indonesia), visited the Shunde Innovation Park of the South China University of Technology National University Science Park for an exchange visit. Professor Jiangmiao Yu, Dean of the School, together with relevant representatives from various departments of the Civil Engineering discipline, accompanied the delegation during the on site visit and exchange at the park.

At the beginning of the meeting, Dean Jiangmiao Yu warmly welcomed the delegation of PT Warney Architecture Special Technology. Vice Dean Nan Hu then briefly introduced the school’s history, disciplinary advantages and research platforms. The two sides had thorough discussions concerning Indonesia’s construction sector prospects, talent strategies and technology transfer requirements. Special focus was placed on how well high performance material structure technologies suit Indonesia’s unique climate. They also held pragmatic talks over key issues such as technical adaptation, mutual recognition of standards and cooperation models.

After the meeting, the delegation visited three sci tech innovation companies located in the park, to gain detailed insights into new energy batteries, high energy ball milling technology, and green low carbon high performance pavement technologies.

The Indonesian side gave high praise to the solid engineering research foundation of South China University of Technology and the sci tech achievement transformation capacity of the Shunde Innovation Park. They fully acknowledged the park’s achievements in leveraging the University’s disciplinary strengths to empower high quality development of the regional construction industry. Meanwhile, they expressed expectations to accelerate the localized application, demonstration and promotion of proven relevant technologies in the Indonesian market.

This visit by the Indonesian delegation has built an important bridge between the School and overseas industry, laying an initial foundation for the subsequent overseas roll out of the School’s relevant technologies.
