Smart empowerment and digital Leadership: teachers and students of engineering management department explore Gloden’s smart construction site

Recently, in order to enhance the capabilities of our university's undergraduate graduates to meet the development needs of the new era in the field of construction, teachers Yan Hui, Luo Xiaochun, Deng Yichuan, and Zhang Yangbing from the Department of Engineering Management led students from the 2019 Engineering Management class to visit the Glodon’s Intelligence Construction and Southern Headquarters Base located in Baiyun District, Guangzhou for the graduation internship.

During the visit, our school's alum, Yang Shibin, a 2020 graduate in Engineering Management and currently a Senior Implementation Consultant at Glodon Company Limited, along with his colleague Xiong Jia, a Business Architect at Glodon, patiently provided a detailed explanation to faculty and students about the smart construction technology and project management processes of the project. The main topics covered were: (1) The demonstrative application of domestic BIM, illustrating the integrated application of domestic BIM from the project design phase to the operational phase; (2) The application of smart hardware in the project and its integration with project management; (3) The application of BIM in the project and its integration with project management. Subsequently, alum Yang Shibin and the Manager of the Human Resources Department, Liu Yujuan, engaged in a career recruitment presentation and shared experiences in the workplace with students. The students actively participated, asking questions, creating a lively atmosphere on the spot.

The graduation internship program not only allowed students to gain insights into the applications of smart hardware, engineering AI, and BIM's visualized project site management system in construction project management but also deepened their understanding of the forefront developments in the field of engineering management. Furthermore, it facilitated enhanced communication between the university and industry, providing an opportunity for school teachers to better comprehend the emerging demands for skilled professionals in the industry. This, in turn, supports the advancement of our university's efforts to cultivate high-quality talents in the field of engineering management.
