The 9th National University Traffic College Party Committee Secretary Forum was held at the Wushan Campus of South China University of Technology from May 24 to 26, 2019. More than 40 party committee secretaries and deputy secretaries of transportation colleges attended the forum from 19 universities, such as Beijing Jiaotong University, Harbin Institute of Technology, Southeast University, Tongji University, Central South University and Chang'an University. Zhang Yanhua (Secretary of the Party Committee of the Transport Management Institute Ministry of Transport and the First Vice President of the Party School of the Ministry of Transport), Wu Yechun (Vice President of South China University of Technology), He Boqing (Secretary of the Party Committee, Vice Chairman and General Manager of Yuexiu Transport Infrastructure Limited Co.), and Wen Li (General Manager of Human Resources Center of Shenzhen Genvict Technologies Co.), attended the opening ceremony of the forum on the morning of May 25th. The forum was hosted by Zheng Cunhui, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Civil Engineering and Transportation of South China University of Technology.
At the opening ceremony, Wu Yechun, Vice President of South China University of Technology, expressed a warm welcome to the leaders and guests attending the forum on behalf of the university, and briefly introduced the basic situation and achievements of the university and its transportation profession. He pointed out that building a country with strong transportation network is a new mission for all transportation people to strive for in the new era. How to adhere to Xi Jinping's thought of socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era to forge the soul and nurture people, highlight the political construction of the Party as the leader, and raise the flag for the reform and development of traffic colleges in the new era, is a major issue that we need to seriously study, and he believed that this forum will have a positive impact on promoting the construction of the Party, the development of disciplines and the training of talents in transportation colleges!
On behalf of the Party Committee and the Party School of the Ministry of Transport, Professor Zhang Yanhua, the First Vice President of the Party School of the Ministry of Transport and Secretary of the Party Committee of the Transport Management Institute Ministry of Transport, congratulated the holding of the 9th National University Traffic College Party Committee Secretary Forum. He hoped that the forum serves as a platform to promote exchanges among various traffic colleges, to accelerate the cultivation of high-level traffic talents and to implement the strategy of strong traffic country. He highlighted that the Party Central Committee proposed to hold a party-wide education on the theme of not forgetting the original heart and remembering the mission from June, and that it is very important to raise the ideological awareness, to strengthen the construction of party affairs, and further to promote the modern transportation talents training work of the university in a targeted manner.
Wu Bo, Dean of the School of Civil Engineering and Transportation of South China University of Technology, and Tian Xinmin, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National University Traffic College Party Committee Secretary Forum, delivered speeches respectively. They combined the strategy of strengthening the country through transportation put forward in the 19th National Congress, focused on how the party committees of colleges can remember their original hearts and their missions, establish moral education, strengthen the leadership work of the party committees of colleges on talent training under the new situation, how to keep up with the times, and how to improve the level of discipline construction. It was hoped that this forum can provide a platform for exchange and discussion, resource sharing, putting forward new ideas, coming up with new initiatives and solving new problems.
The theme of the forum was Innovation of Party Construction in Universities under the Background of Double First-class Construction. Invited speakers from Shanghai Jiaotong University, Harbin Institute of Technology, Inner Mongolia University, Beijing University of Technology, Tongji University, Chang'an University, Wuhan University of Technology, South China University of Technology and other universities made keynote speeches, based on the characteristics of each university's transportation colleges, such as the development of curriculum thinking and politics based on the discipline of transportation engineering, the thinking and practice of the party committee of the college to promote the work of three-wide education, focusing on talent training, strengthening the quality construction of the party and solidly promoting the party construction work of secondary colleges from different perspectives, etc.
A major innovation highlight of the forum was the invitation of enterprise representatives from the transportation industry to participate together, including He Boqing, Secretary of the Party Committee of Yuexiu Transportation, who gave a speech on the theme of Based on a new era, creating new values and promoting new development, and Wen Li, General Manager of the Human Resources Centre of Shenzhen Genvict Technologies Co., who gave a speech on the theme of School-enterprise cooperation to create a new model of party building.
At the council, the delegates discussed and exchanged views on how to further improve the level of the forum, to enrich its content and to expand its influence. After discussion by the Forum Council, it was decided that the 10th National University Traffic College Party Committee Secretary Forum would be held in Harbin Institute of Technology (Weihai) in May 2020.
After the meeting, all the delegates visited our transportation labs and learned about our transportation talent training environment. They also visited the Whampoa Military Academy, Dongguan Humen Battery and other patriotic education bases.
