On January 7, 2020, School of Civil Engineering and Transportation (SCET), South China University of Technology (SCUT) and Shenzhen Guanghuiyuan Hydraulic and Construction Engineering Co., LTD (GHCE) signed an agreement about the teaching practice base construction and production-research cooperation in Shenzhen, and held the opening ceremony of the teaching practice base. The attending members included: Zheng Cunhui, secretary of the Party Committee in SCET; Chen Jun, full-time administrative associate dean of SCET; Professor Cheng Xiangju, head of the Department of Hydraulic Engineering (DHE); Professor Huang Guoru, academic leader of DHE; Professor Lai Chengguang, associate head of DHE; Qiu Jianan, chairman of GHCE; Wu Hongjun, general manager of GHCE; Li Xiangyang and Zhang Kaicheng, associate general managers of GHCE; some key members of GHCE and alumni of SCUT.

At the meeting, Qiu Jianan warmly welcomed SCET on behalf of GHCE. Li Xiangyang introduced the recent development of the company in detail, and Wu Hongjun pointed out that the company is facing transformation and upgrading under the new situation and the company hoped to carry out in-depth cooperation with SCUT. On one hand, in this way it would provide for students with a good learning and practice base to improve their practical ability. On the other hand, this way will further strengthen the technology research and development ability of the company through this opportunity of production-research cooperation. Then, Zheng Cunhui thanked GHCE for their trust in SCET, along with the all-the-time support from the company. He further introduced in detail the academic research, faculty and student cultivation of SCUT and SCET in recent years. He sincerely hoped that the two sides can take this opportunity to carry out more relevant cooperation, make use of respective advantages, and promote win-win cooperation between school and company, which better serves the water conservancy projects in Guangdong Province.
