From 13 to 17 January 2019, a group of faculties and students from the School of Civil Engineering and Transportation of South China University of Technology (SCUT) attended the 98th Transportation Research Board (TRB) Annual Conference at Washington, D.C., USA. In this annual meeting, six research articles from our school have been accepted for poster and lecture presentations. Prof. Duanyi Wang, Assoc. Prof. Lijun Yu, Dr. Huayang Yu, and nearly ten postgraduate students attended the conference. They shared the research findings on the road engineering and transportation engineering with the researchers from other countries.
Prof. Duanyi Wang, Assoc. Prof. Jiangmiao Yu, and Dr. Huayang Yu jointly supervised three master students, including Xianshu Yu, Danning Li, and Zhibin Ren. Those three students delivered oral presentations and poster presentations on the topics of warm rubberized asphalt, respectively. Besides, Assoc. Prof. Lijun Yu and Ph.D. candidate Mingyang Pei from the Department of Transportation also delivered academic poster presentations on bus transit assignment and optimal scheduling model, respectively. Mr. Danning Li, who is a 2016 grade postgraduate student from the Department of Road Engineering, was awarded the second prize of the 2019 Outstanding Student Award by the International Association of Chinese Infrastructure Professionals (IACIP) during the annual meeting. This is the first time that our student receives the award from IACIP.

The Transportation Research Board (TRB) is a non-profit industry association with a mission to advocate transportation research and information communication, providing a neutral platform for transportation research, academic conferences and achievement promotion, and training of technical personnel. With nearly 100 years of development, TRB has become the world's largest transportation industry association, and the TRB Annual Conference becomes a grand event of the world transportation industry, providing a high-level international communication platform for experts in various fields of transportation research, attracting over 10,000 transportation professionals from more than 70 countries and regions every year. The TRB Annual Conference has very strict standards and requirements for publishing research papers. It has a comprehensive paper review process, and top review experts. Compared to other international conferences, it is more difficult to have a research article to be published at the TRB annual conference. The papers presented at the TRB annual meeting represent cutting-edge research achievements in the field of transportation. Many of them are being considered as the benchmark of scientific research in the field of transportation.
