On the morning of July 4th, in the lecture hall of the traffic building, HZM Bridge Authority chief engineer director, senior engineer Chen Yue gave an academic report named “Application and Development Immersed Tube Tunnel Technology – HZM Bridge Case Study”. Academic staffs and students of school of civil engineering and transportation attended the meeting.
Chen Yue participated in the construction of the first domestic immersed tube tunnel - Pearl River Tunnel, and the world's largest immersed tunnel - immersed tube tunnel of HZM Bridge. He proudly said: “Immersed tube tunnel technology for cross river or sea has been applied for centuries, and hundreds of immersed tube tunnel has been constructed. More than 10 tunnels for crossing river or sea has been constructed in China. HZM Bridge is the perfect combination of the undersea immersed tube tunnel and the cross-sea bridge project. ”
The HZM Bridge is a traffic cluster which combines bridges, islands and tunnels, and it is the world's longest cross-sea bridge. Based on his past experience and working experience on the immersed tunnel, Chen Yue gave an introduction to the mainstream technology and trends of the immersed tube tunnel prefabrication, construction and other aspects of the sinking. His made the analysis of the immersed tube tunnel technology and its further development, and answered the questions by the academic staffs and students.
This presentation is the internship for civil engineering underground students of year 2012. In March 4 of this year, students, supervised by Prof. MO Hai Hung, arrived in Zhuhai HZM Bridge for a field visit in HZM Bridge Authority. With the technicians of Bridge Authority, professors and students visited one of the segments of HZM Bridge on Gui-Shan Island and Jiu-Zhou Bridge.
