On 5th December, the first forum of Young Scholars of Structural Engineering and Disaster Prevention and Mitigation was held in the report hall of No. 7 building of SCUT. Prof. Su Cheng, who is the assistant president of SCUT, dean of School of Civil Engineering and Transportation, and vice director of State Key Laboratory of Subtropical Building Science, and other honorary guests attended the forum. More than 20 young scholars from Tongji University, Jinan University and other universities also participated in this forum. The opening ceremony was chaired by Prof. Wu Jianying.
12 speakers
12 young scholars gave presentations on the topics including the advancement on structural engineering and disaster prevention and mitigation. Prof. Chen Cheng from San Francisco State University introduced hybrid simulation and its application on performance-based earthquake engineering. Prof. Deng Lu from Hunan University introduced the research on vehicle-bridge interaction.
Prof. Guo Tong from Southeast University introduced the new design on seismic reduction structural system. Prof. Huang Guoqing from Southwest Jiaotong University introduced the simulation on nonstationary wind profile with using propoer orthogonal decomposition.
Prof. Liu Jiepeng from Chongqing University introduced the design of stell tube confined concrete column. Prof. Lu Zhaohui from Central South University introduced structural reliability using high order moment.
Prof. Lu Xinzheng from Tsinghua University introduced seismic assessment on city-level with using GPU enhanced simulation. Prof. Yan Dongmin from Zhejiang University introduced a new type of corrosion resistance technology using CRE ceramic coating.
Prof. Yang Na from Beijing Jiaotong University introduced structural analysis and health monitoring of Tibetan timber structure. Prof. Yi Tinghua from Dalian University of Technology introduced recent advance on sensor location for structural health monitoring system.
Prof. Zhao Mu from Beijing University of Technology introduced the research on structure-fluid interaction. Prof. Wu Jianyin introduced the research on concrete damage analysis.
The 12 invited speeches covered the researches on steel structures, concrete structures, steel reinforced concrete composite structures, timber structures and so on. They discussed theoretical modeling, numerical analysis, health monitoring, physical experiment, and other new theory, methods and technologies used in application of life-cycle safety, disaster prevention and mitigation, and sustainable development of engineering structures subjected to earthquake motion, strong wind and other disasters.
This forum was held by School of Civil Engineering and Transportation, and State Key Laboratory of Subtropical Building Science. The next forum will be held in May of 2016, by Central South University in Changsha, Hunan Province.
