The 973 Program Seminar about the Underground Structure Performance Evolution & Basic theory of Sense Control of the Urban Rail Transit Successfully H

From July 16th to 17th, 2015, the seminar about the underground structure performance evolution & basic theory of sense control of the urban rail transit, hosted by SCUT as part of National Basic Research Program of China (973 program) was held in Guangzhou.
The vice-president of SCUT, Zhang Xichun, chief scientists of the program, professor of Tongji University, Zhu Hehua, professor of Central South University, professor Huang Hongwei of Tongji University, professor Wang Shuguang of Nanjing Tech University, and more than 130 teachers and postgraduate students from all over the country attended the meeting. In order to put program research into engineering practice, this meeting not only invited professor Zhang Lianyang (from University of Arizona in American) and professor Mo Haihong (from SCUT), but also invited experts from engineering industry such as professional senior engineer, Zhu Weibin (from Guangzhou Metro), Wei Lixin (from Guangzhou Municipal Engineering Design & Research Institute) and Zhang Houmei (from Guangzhou Municipal Dunjian Underground Construction Engineering CO., LTD)
Seminar was hosted by researcher Wu Bo. As the representative of SCUT, Vice-president Zhang Xichun gave a welcome speech and briefly introduced development and major achievement of SCUT in recent years to the experts, expressing gratitude to the support from brother-like university such as Tongji University. The dean of SCET, Su Cheng, introduced development of SCET, wishing that SCET could have further technical cooperation with brother-like University and the experts. The chief scientist of the program, Chang Jiang Scholar, professor of Tongji University, Zhu Hehua introduced the organization of the program in details including the situation of every sub-subject, communication with industry and society, stage achievement and the plan for the next step. It was declared that as the program would be finished in Oct. 2016, it was the important period of the program now. So we must focus on strengthening the correlation between subjects and promoting application of the research.
Later, those responsible for 6 programs gave reports about each program. After listening to the introduction of subjects’ research progress, stage achievement and plans for future work, experts praised the achievements gained after the program began, and gave suggestions on the next stage’s research direction and program implementation. Members of the research programs accepted the suggestion of the experts, discussed and summarized their work and set the direction of future work.
On July 17th, the second day of the meeting, programs were discussed in group. Researchers summarized and thought about the experts’ suggestion, then having a deep discussion on certain important problems and carefully planning for next stage.
It’s reported that since it’s the fourth year of the 973 program, which is an important stage, this seminar of 973 programs is of great importance. The big success of the meeting shows that the program has made essential progresses and gained a lot of accomplishments. Although there are still urgent problems to be solved, every member of the program is confident in accomplishing the program plan with high quality!
