Dr. Yu Hao, a SCUT alumnus working for the Boeing Company, made an academic speech named New Development and Future Market of Airplane Industry at SCET on the evening of April 22. The lecture was chaired by Mr Zeng Qingdun, a professor from Department of Mechanics, and over 60 teachers and students of the department participated in the lecture and listened to it.
Dr. Yu held deep feelings for SCUT as it was a place which witnessed his study and growth from his childhood, his youth, to his four-year college life. And he missed SCUT so much when he furthered his study in Germany and the US.
During the lecture, Dr. Yu showed the audiences the advantages of Mechanics in aviation, such as finite element module, static and dynamic stress analysis, and the mechanical analyses of vibration, creep, fatigue and fracture in the design and manufacture of planes.
Through introducing his experiences in Boeing, such as the design and making of Boeing 737 Next Generation, 737 Max and 747-8, the aviation expert forecast the trends and wide market of aviation industry in the future, and the important role that Mechanics would play in aviation.
At last, Dr. Yu made a deep discussion of the development with the audiences and the progress of aviation industry in China.
The lecture broadens the vision of students and helped them have a deep understanding of the importance of Mechanics in aviation. After the lecture, students said that they benefited a lot from the lecture and would make contribution to the development of aviation in China with their efforts and knowledge.
