The 7th Member Congress of Guangdong Society for Rock Mechanics and Engineering (GSRME) was held at Shaw Building of Humanities on March 28. The meeting was sponsored by GSRME, and hosted by South China University of Technology and other agencies. Over 230 experts and scholars from fields of universities, institutes, design, consulting and construction participated in the meeting. SCUT's Professor Cao Hong was elected as the new chairman, and Professor Pan Hong was elected secretary-general.
Covered by some academic branches ranging from housing construction, water conservancy construction, rail and road transport, ports, to geological disaster and prevention, GSRME owns nine professional committees and two working committees. GSRME has been committed to academic exchanges, technology promotion and social services since it was founded 29 years ago. Its strong track record has helped itself gain recognition from the community and society. Many SCET professors and scholars have done what they can to support the development of GSRME and made outstanding contributions to it. For example, Professor Wu Renpei was the chairman of the 1st and 2nd congresses of GSRME.
Ten wonderful academic reports were made during the session, relating to theoretical research, engineering practice, industry development and so on. And all of them played a very good effect in exchange. (Photos/News School of Civil Engineering and Transportation)
