During the lecture, Professor Cheng introduced the history of aviation development, application of aviation mechanics and typical examples of aviation mechanics. Professor Cheng described the development of aviation, from the first aircraft invented by Wright to fighters like the F-10, Su-27, from A380, Boeing 747 and other large aircraft to stealth fighters like F22, F35. He analyzed how a plane could fly from the aerodynamics and introduced the boundary layer theory. Professor Cheng explained how to solve this worldwide problem of birds’ strikes through video and vivid simulation. Staffs of Department of Mechanics also had some deep research on it, so SCET carry out cooperation with companies such as AVIC Chengdu Aircraft Industrial (Group) Co., Ltd., AVIC Shenyang Aircraft Industrial Co., Ltd., and PPG Industries.
After that, Professor Cheng took Pugachev's Cobra as an example to describe aerodynamic changes of every classical flight action, and patiently answered questions asked by students, presenting a vivid and wonderful academic course to all the audiences.
