Yufei Tao graduated with the undergraduate degree in the computer united class from our school in August 1999 and the Ph.D. degree from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in August 2002. He is currently a full professor with Hong Kong Chinese University.

Yufei Tao is a worldwide famous scholar in database area. His research results in applying time space database index to manage moving objects speeds up the query time by million times. He is a hard working scholar and his rapid growth is admirable: use three years to get an undergraduate degree, another three years to get a Ph.D. degree, promoted to be a full professor with Hong Kong Chinese University and also one of the youngest professors in Hong Kong universities. In 2002, he was awarded the honorable title Outstanding Youth Scientist. 

Xiaokui Xiao, the first Ph.D. student of Yufei Tao, was awarded the Outstanding Youth Scientist in 2009 and also graduated from our school in 2001. Both the teacher and the student come from the same profession and the same university, years later both of them got the same important award. The moment becomes a favorite tale.
