The Second Meeting of the Fourth Academic Committee of the Key Laboratory of Heat Transfer Enhancement and Energy Conservation of the Education Ministry

On the 3^rd December 2021, the second meeting of the 4th Academic Committee of the Key Laboratory of Heat Transfer Intensification and Process Energy Conservation of the Ministry of Education was successfully held in a combined online and offline format. The meeting was attended by Gui Ling, Deputy Director of Science and Technology Department in South China University of Technology, Zhengguo Zhang, Dean of School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering of South China University of Technology, Hongyi Li, Vice Dean of Science Development in Institute of Beijing University of Technology, Zhirong Sun, Director of Environment and Life Sciences Department of Beijing University of Technology and all members of the Key Laboratory.

The Academic Committee of the Key Laboratory is composed of 12 renowned experts, including academician Liejin Guo from Xi'an Jiaotong University, academician Yimin Xuan from Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, academician Xiang Gao from Zhejiang University and Professor Xing Zhang from Tsinghua University. The meeting was opened under the chairmanship of Prof. Lizhi Zhang, Director of the Key Laboratory. Deputy Director Gui Ling delivered a speech on behalf of the university, welcoming the participating members and giving full recognition to the achievements made by the laboratory. School Dean Zhengguo Zhang, Vice Dean Hongyi Li and Director Zhirong Sun then delivered speeches in the meeting and expressed their warm welcome and heartfelt thanks to the members of the Academic Committee for joining.

During the meeting, Dean Lizhi Zhang and Deputy Director Yuting Wu gave reports on the work of the laboratory, and the representatives of the young backbone, Associate Research fellow Ziyi Ling, Associate Research fellow Kai Chen, Associate Professor Cancan Zhang and Associate Professor Jun Wang, also reported their academic achievements in the meeting. After the youth reports, members of the academic committee gave the conclusion, fully affirming the achievements made by the key laboratory in recent years. Professor Chongfang Ma, the founder of the key laboratory, emphasized that the key laboratory should seize the valuable opportunity of the national dual carbon development strategy, deepen the interdisciplinary intersection and combine more imaginative innovations with practice under the guidance of all experts. Academician Liejin Guo, director of the academic committee of the laboratory, made a concluding speech and put forward the following suggestions for the development of the laboratory: First, it was suggested that two universities should strengthen the organic integration within the laboratory and enhance the communication and cooperation between the laboratories. Second, in terms of the research direction of the laboratory, the laboratory should combine the development of regional economy and the requirements of the progress of the times, focus on the needs of the Greater Bay Area and new energy, take the national needs as the guide, link the work objectives of the laboratory more closely with the development strategy of the country, and further strengthen the basic and original research under the conditions of double carbon environment and double carbon objectives. Third, strengthen the introduction of overseas outstanding talents to expand the strength of the laboratory's talent team.

Finally, the key laboratory Dean Prof. Lizhi Zhang thanked the academic members for their valuable opinions and suggestions to the key laboratory, and reported the future work ideas of the laboratory. This meeting overcame the adverse impact brought by the epidemic, and under the new situation, expert advices were heard through a combination of online and offline meetings, pointing out the direction for the development of the laboratory.
