We offer opportunities in a wide range of research topics and themes, including: synthesis (organic and inorganic), catalysis, functional materials, atmospheric chemistry, theoretical chemistry, synthetic biology, spectroscopy, soft matter and colloids, supramolecular chemistry and materials for energy.
Bristol ChemLabS (Bristol Chemical Laboratory Sciences) is a UK Centre for Excellence in Teaching and Learning. It was established in 2005 following an award to the School of Chemistry from the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) and significant further in-vestment from the University. This investment resulted in the refurbishment of the school's teaching laboratories, which opened in 2007 and now offer state-of-the-art, professional standard facilities for the teaching and learning of chemistry's core practical elements. The remaining investment was used to provide a greatly enhanced in-lab experience for the students through the development of e-learning software, in association with Learning Science Ltd. This has transformed the student experience of practical chemistry at Bristol.
