Department of Applied Chemistry was founded in 1980 which was one of the earliest established Applied Chemistry majors in China. It was honored as Guangdong provincial key disciplines in 2005. Department of Applied Chemistry in SCUT aims at training the students to be successful research talents with solid chemistry background and experimental skills as well as with excellent comprehensive quality and innovation spirit, and able to engaged in the research, development, manufacture and administration work in related applied chemistry fields. The students will master the basic engineering courses, English and computer skills. In addition, they will also study detailed chemical knowledge, fundamental theory, basic skills and relative engineering technique. Besides, they will learn the training of the research thinking and experimental skills which are important base for their practical work and scientific research in various fields, especially in fine chemicals, applied electrochemistry and modern analytic techniques.

Four-year Program                                                                                     Program Code: 070302
Program Aims
The program is designed not only to disseminate theoretical and latest knowledge of the discipline, but also to equip students with requisite research methodology and ability to explore the unknown. The program prepares students for future careers in the fields of chemical engineering. The graduates will also be qualified to be engaged in research and teaching in research institutes and institutions of higher learning.
Program Features
Drawing on the sophisticated teaching and research facilities as well as rich experience of the professors with extraordinary research power, the program puts much premium on the cultivation of students' innovative and analytical thinking and ability, encouraging students to participate in research project with a view to acquiring hands-on experience under the guidance of professors.
