 Abstract

In this seminar, first I will introduce some recent research projects of visual object detection, tracking and recognition in my group. These research activities lead to computational algorithms and robotic platforms capable of understanding the behavior or characteristics of objects such as pedestrians, civil infrastructures and plants.

Then, I will elaborate the application of object detection and tracking on biological images. To perform biological discoveries in cell-based therapy, time-lapse microscopy images are recorded to monitor the growing processes of living cells. However, the data explosion by recording microscopy images during high throughput biological experiments makes the labor-intensive manual analysis prohibitive. Biologists need rigorous, quantitative and efficient approaches and tools to decipher complex biological processes. The overall objective of this interdisciplinary project is to develop microscopy image analysis algorithms and systems to automatically process microscopy images and evaluate cell behaviors that respond to different culturing conditions, therefore, accelerating the advance of biological discovery.

Biography 

尹朝征,2009于宾夕法尼亚州立大学获得计算机科学与工程专业博士学位, 2004于威斯康星大学-麦迪逊大学获得计算机科学与工程专业硕士学位,2002于清华大学获得自动化专业硕士学位,自动化专业,1999于清华大学获得学士学位。2011至今为密苏里科技大学计算机科学系,助理教授,2009 - 2011在卡内基•梅隆大学机器人研究所做博士后。获得CVPR2009最佳博士焦点奖、MICCAI2012青年科学家奖、2014获得美国国家科学基金会杰青奖、密苏里科技大学教师研究奖、密苏里科技大学计算机科学系优秀青年教师研究奖。
