In the evening of December 30, the South China University of Technology (SCUT) 2022 New Year Concert was performed at the Higher Education Mega Center Campus. The SCUT vice principal LI Wei Qing attended the concert to enjoy the performance with other faculty and students.

The concert invited the renowned conductor WANG Jun to conduct the SCUT Youth Symphony Orchestra, and the Steinway & Sons grand concert piano also made contribution to the magnificent sound of the new year concert grand gala.
A jubilant “Spring Festival Overture” brought the curtain to raise and arouse the enthusiasm from the audience. This overture depicted the new year scene at the Yan’an revolutionary base, when the army and the people were singing and dancing together happily to welcome the new year. “That Year, That Month, That Day” composed by LIANG Jun and sung by WU Zhe Ming, illustrated the pride and yearning for beatific China and revival dream with gorgeous tone and splendid power. “Wish for you, celebrate the new year for you!” The song “Long Live Motherland” expressed the devotion and attachment from the children to the motherland. “Remain True to the Original Aspiration” had a melodious tune, and the simple text delivered the people’s voice: “Thousands of mountains and rivers the most beautiful Chinese road!” “Devoting Everything to the Party” conveyed the SCUT faculty and students’ decision and confidence of following the Party firmly.

This concert was a spectacular, elaborately selected program included the familiar “Red Detachment of Women” and “Delivering Happy News from Beijing to the Frontier”, and also folk tune selections from “Chinese Sights and Sounds - 24 Symphonic Chinese Folk Songs”, and the cheerful and lively “Sport” polka and “Bahn Frei” polka, as well as the romantic and energetic Piano Concerto in A Minor by Grieg. The concert blended Chinese and western elements, and received warm welcome. In the sonorous melody of “My Country” and the applause of the entire audience the curtain of the 2022 new year concert came down.

New Year Concert achieved complete success
To start a new year with new year wishes sending to the faculty and students through music, was welcomed by everyone and became a tradition of SCUT since long ago. This year the concert was broadcasted live by China Mobile 5G network for the first time. The audience could stay at home and enjoy the concert through the SCUT WeChat Channels and the Sina Microblog platform. The data indicated that, over 57 thousand watched this new year concert online.
