Introduction:

Professor and graduate student supervisor at the South China University of Technology. She serves as Executive Director of Cantonese Opera Art Heritage Base which is set by Ministry of Education and the South China University of Technology, external expert of “Chinese Traditional Music Culture Heritage and Creative Team” of the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, deputy director of the Theoretical Criticism Committee of China National Orchestra Society, and vice president of the Theoretical Committee of Guangzhou Musicians Association.

Professor Shen specializes in Chinese traditional music, Chinese music in the twentieth century, national chamber music, traditional music and contemporary composition. She has published dozens of articles on topics of traditional music and contemporary composition in the core music journals. She also published research writings including “Dengtiao Hu's Music Composition Concept and Existence Value of Chinese traditional “Silk String” Quintet” and “Gong and Drum Music”. She is also the chief editor of the Cantonese Opera Art Series Books “Traditional Gong and Drum Collection Used in Cantonese Opera” among others. Her subject study “Analytical Research on the Application of Basic Terms of Chinese Traditional Music Morphology Analysis” was supported by the National Social Science Fund Art Project in 2017.

In addition to numerous other prizes, professor Shen received the Excellent Teaching Nanguang Award, Teaching Achievement Award and the honorary title of “My Favorite Tutor” at the South China University of Technology. She has also guided some of the undergraduate and graduate students who received awards, including the second prize of the First National Hua-Yue Cup, Chinese National Instrumental Works Criticism Essay” and the second prize of the Ninth “Shanghai Conservatory of Music Social Cup”.
