Pulitzer winning couple appointed visiting professors of SCUT

CHEN Yi, winner of the Charles Ives Prize, is an outstanding Chinese composer who has great influence on music style around the world. ZHOU Long is the first Chinese Pulitzer winner and also winner of Lifetime Achievement Award issued by American Academy of Arts & Letters. On June 13, the couple were appointed visiting professors of SCUT.
 
After the appointment ceremony, ZHOU and CHEN respectively delivered an academic report to the teachers and students from School of Arts, namely, "Creation of the Tale of White Serpent" and "Creativity & creation — my experience on bringing about creation project". Moreover, Zhou also provided instructions to SCUT Youth Orchestra on the rehearsal of River Elder sisters.
 
In recent years, the university has invited teachers from different cultural background so as to strengthen cross-cultural study and communication and to broaden the students' international vision. Before ZHOU & CHEN, Lang Lang, the piano prince, Shinik Hahm, the reknowned conductor in Yale, and ZHUO Renxiang, the international musician, were all appointed visiting professors of SCUT.
