On July 6, Joachim Loos, a visiting professor at the School of Frontier Soft Matter Sciences, South China University of Technology, gave an academic report titled A Vision on Advanced Imaging for Soft Matter Sciences for teachers and students of our school through an online meeting about the recent advances in material structure characterization techniques.
The morphology of a material is an important parameter that determines its properties for all materials. How to accurately and efficiently characterize the microstructure of materials is an important topic. Professor Joachim Loos has been engaged in the characterization of soft matter and polymer materials for a long time, and has in-depth research and understanding of the structure-property relationship of materials. In this report, he combined his research experience to introduce a variety of advanced characterization methods including three-dimensional electron microscopy (3D TEM) and electron tomography (ET), as well as the influence of material structure on final properties.
Prof. Joachim Loos is currently a visiting professor at the School of Emergent Soft Matter at South China University of Technology, and the founder of the consulting firm Morphys (www.morphys.eu). He has published more than 180 academic papers and holds a number of technical patents.
