The Award Ceremony and Lecture for the 13th FENG Xinde Polymer Prize was held at South China University of Technology (SCUT) on November 2nd, 2019. The conference is co-sponsored by Elsevier publisher, Polymer journal and South China Institute of Soft Matter Science and Technology (AISMST). This prize was named in honor of Dr. FENG Xinde, who significantly contributed to the creation and development of modern polymer chemistry in China. The prize committee selected the Best Chinese Paper and 9 nominations through 307 papers published by Chinese scholars in Polymer in 2018.

The FENG Xinde Polymer Prize was established in 2006 under the support of Elsevier publisher. The prize is awarded annually to the Best Chinese Paper published in Polymer in the previous year. The Award Ceremony and Lecture for the 13th FENG Xinde Polymer Prize was held at South China University of Technology (SCUT) successfully. Editors-in-Chief of Polymer, delivered the opening address. He introduced the original intention to establishing FENG Xinde Polymer Prize and reviewed the past award ceremonies. Leanne M. Mullen, senior publisher from Elsevier, introduced Elsevier and materials-related journal categories under the publisher, including Polymer. Yanchun Han, Senior Editor of Polymer, hosted the ceremony.
Both Chinese and international scientists in the field of polymer science were invited to promote academic communication and accelerate the development of SCUT in the field of polymer science and related disciplines.
17 experts and scholars from 12 top Universities attended the ceremony lectures, and they gave an oral talk respectively, the theme of which are “Deformation Mechanisms of Oriented Lamellar Stacks in Polyolefin Hard-Elastic Films”, “Preparation of Cyclic Polystyrenes with High Purity”, “Design and applications of functional porous polymers”, “Preparation and modification of silica and its application in rubber matrixes”, “Sequence-Regulated Polymers Based on Maleimide Chemistry”, “Texture Induced by Molecular Weight Dispersity”, “Synergistic effect of nanofiller geometry and shear flow on the morphology evolution in ternary phase separated blends”, and “Nanonetwork Materials from Templating of Chiral Block Copolymers for Metamaterial Applications”.
The award lecture provides the opportunity for polymer scientists with various research background to communicate face-to-face. AISMST is honored to serve as platform to facilitate the international communication and collaboration among scholars in soft matter community.
