At the invitation of South China Advanced Institute for Soft Matter Science and Technology (AISMST), Dr. Yin Ning, from the University of Sheffield, gave a lecture on May 31th about Occlusion of Nanoparticles within Inorganic Crystals.
Some organisms could manipulate the formation of biominerals by incorporating biomacromolecules within the inorganic matrix and thus achieve enhanced mechanical properties. In this lecture, Dr. Yin Ning shared his researches about the precise synthesis of various series of nanoparticles with controlled size, morphology, composition and structure, and elucidated the effect of these parameters on nanoparticle occlusion and the underlying mechanism of biominerals.
Dr. Yin Ning has focused on nanoparticle occlusion within inorganic crystals, he has published more than 20 scientific papers in international recognised journals, such as JACS, Angew. Chem. Int. Ed., Chem. Sci. etc.
