From July 16 to 18, 2018, South China Advanced Institute for Soft Matter Science and Technology (hereinafter referred to AISMST) launched its Summer Camp for Excellent College Students in 2018. 17 undergraduate students from 13 institutions of Soft Matter Institutes joined the campus. They had knowledge of AISMST and the essence of soft matter through discussions, field visits and face-to-face exchanges between teachers and students. The excellent candidates will have the opportunity to exempt from admission exam and join in the AISMST for master degree after they obtain a bachelor degree.

This summer camp lasts for three days. Following the first day teachers and students get to know each other through a tea party, a flag ceremony was held on the morning of July 17, announcing that the summer camp begun. Academician of the American Academy of Engineering,attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. Academician of the American Academy of Engineering, said that the school's key task is to educate students, and all teachers are required to put students ‘education and research in the coequal position. Meanwhile, we should encourage students to make progress and change their lives through education.

During the summer camp, the supervisor of the Institute introduced the general situation of the Institute, the enrollment policy, the tutor recommendation, so that the students can have a comprehensive and detailed understanding of the Institute. Meanwhile, all the tutors of the Institute has delivered academic lectures on their respective researches. Their simple language for explaining the profound theories and sharing the knowledge of science and personal charisma have aroused the strong interest of students for soft matter research and also enhanced their identity to the Institute.

For the outstanding students with the qualifications recommended by the undergraduate school for exemption from examinations, they will be tested in September 2018 when they are exempted from enrollment. For the outstanding students without the qualifications recommended by the undergraduate school for exemption from examinations, they will participate in 2019. The national unified examination for postgraduates has been applied to our institute, reaching the second-round examination score line of our institute, and can apply to the Institute for exemption from the second-round examination to obtain the admission qualification directly.
