On January 16th, more than 20 world-renowned scholars and guests, with the company of six volunteers from International School of Advanced Material, enjoyed a happy day in Guangzhou. We believed that the beautiful scenic spots in Guangzhou and the enthusiasm of the volunteers had impressed them.
The visit started with the Museum of the Nanyue King of Western Han Dynasty. It is the tomb of the second Nanyue King, Zhao Mozhi. It is found in the south of the Five Ridges area of the largest only painted Tomb of Han Dynasty. Many cultural relics are of great historical, scientific and artistic value since they reflect the political, economic and cultural history of South of the Five Ridges 2,000 years ago.
Seeing those precious ancient relics, we felt not only the magical history, but also the charm of Chinese traditional culture. Both the tour guide and the volunteers introduced the history of the Western Han Dynasty to the guests, trying to restore this legendary history.
After the Museum, the group went to Flower City Square, which is known as the living room of Guangzhou. The Square is situated on the city axis in Zhujiang New Town, occupies a 56-square-kilometre-large (22 sq mi) area with Haixinsha Island to its south and Huangpu Avenue to its north.
The foreign guests walked around and saw the famous structures around the Square, such as the Guangzhou Library, Guangdong Museum and Guangzhou Opera House.
It was our pleasure to show the guests around and had nice conversations with them.Through communication, the guests got to know more about Guangzhou and the volunteers had a chance to be inspired by the conscientious attitude of the foreign guests to science and research and appreciate their sense of humor.
Also, Guangzhou International Light Festival is held in the Square every year. Although it was a pity that the Festival this year was over when the guests came, it was hoped that they could enjoy it with our company next time in Guangzhou.
