At the beginning of June, State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs and The Ministry of Education jointly issued a document, which formally announced the school of materials of south China university of technology（SCUT） has successfully passed its project defending and officially established the “International School of Advanced Material”. 

“Higher Education International Beacon Schools Promoting Plan”, co-launched by State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs and The Ministry of Education in 2014, aims to reform higher education of China by introducing foreign intelligence,establish the international beacon school, explore to innovate the mechanism of teaching, scientific research and management system, and promote intensive development of higher education through introducing a whole team of overseas high-level foreign experts. The approved “International Beacon School” project will boost the establishment of SCUT’s  new platform of introducing foreign intelligence, provide experience for the school’s international comprehensive reform, and explore a new path for SCUT’s reform and development in management system, personnel training, scientific research and service guarantees.       

As reported, there are 2 batches, 13 experimental units having been incorporated into the plan. The first batch higher education international beacon schools are Tianjin University, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Xi’an Jiaotong University, Huazhong University of Science & Technology, the second batch selected universities are Beijing University, Beijing Jiaotong University, Beijing University, Tongji University, Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, Nanjing University, Wuhan University of technology, Sun Yat-sen University, South China University of technology.
