On the afternoon of November 2nd, Ms Chen Qinghua, the Director of Human Resources for South, Central and Southeast China of the Dow Chemical Company, was invited to give a lecture for the students at Room 205, Building 14. Wu Miaoxian, the Standing Deputy Secretary of the CPC Committee of the School, and Peng Shuli, the Deputy Secretary of the CPC Committee of the School, together with the students, attended the lecture.
To begin with, Ms Chen shared her professional experience. After graduated from university, she first worked as a teacher at Guangzhou University, later changed her job as an HR assistant in an American company, and finally worked for The Dow Chemical Company. Based on her 20 years working experience, she said that her lecture aimed at giving advise to the audience who wanted to know more about career planning.
When asked about their interview experience, one of the students, Liu Quanbin, recounted that an interview tests interviewees a lot and requires them to mind out some details. Then, Ms. Chen gave some interview tips to the students, such as choosing the proper position, discerning different interview ways, and attending to etiquette. During this part, the students learned that a good knowledge of communication was required in an interview, and that only those who practiced in advance and obtained the communication skills had the opportunity to succeed.
Students cast out their own doubts about future career planning, asking questions like what's the difference between confidence and arrogance? What features should a qualified interviewer have? How to make their own career plans? Ms. Chen answered all these questions with patience and hoped that her lecture could do a favor to the students on their career planning and job hunting.
At last, on behalf of the School of Materials Science and Engineering, Mr. Peng gave a present to Ms. Chen in appreciation of her wonderful lecture. The lecture ended in an enthusiastic applause. It is believed that Ms. Chen's informative lecture will leave the audience some food for thought.
