In the morning of October 30th, 2016, the 21st Track & Field Sports Meet of School of Materials Science and Technology (SMST) was held as scheduled in the North Campus playground, South China University of Technology (SCUT). SMST's students, teachers and counselors joined in this sports meet and eagerly participated in the competitions, making the atmosphere pretty lively.
In this sports meet, many athletes from Innovation Class 2016 participated in the competition. At 6:50 a.m., all class members gathered in 1st Canteen and took the bus to the North Campus. When arrived, everybody braced up and enthusiastically decorated the camp. The athletes prepared for the competitions with every effort, aiming to get better results for the class.
The sports meet began at 9:10 a.m., starting with Men's 110mHurdles, Long Jump and Shot Put. Xiaotian Xu won the champion in Men's 110mHurdles, which inspired the whole class greatly. In the meantime, Yixun He tried his best and got another champion in Shot Put, pushing the sports meet to an exciting climax. In the following Men’s and Women’s Long Jump and 100m Dash,all athletes did their part to the class by fighting for every single score.
At around 10:30 am, Men’s 1500mRun began. Assigned in the first group, Dong Cai did his best and gained a good result in the group. Yushuo Liu, a sunny and great runner, was in the second group. When started, Liu was in the leading position. With the time passing by, other athletes slowed down due to tiredness, but Liu, on the other hand, speeded up and left the second place behind for a long distance.Without surprise, he ranked firstin the Run. In the following Women’s 800m Run, Lexiao Hu gained the second place, brought even more honor to the class. There were some other games, on which the players spent so much effort. In the 8x100 Relay, every runner brought their A-game. Although the relay baton was dropped accidentally in the halfway, our class still got a good result.
At 1 p.m., the closing ceremony indicated thatthe Sports Meet came to an end. Although we did not get a perfect score, we gained a valuable experience and good memories of life!
