Dr. Stefan Kuehner from Lingnan University lectured and pursued a master program promotion at SPA-SCUT

On Thursday afternoon, June 1, Dr. Stefan Kuehner from Lingnan University visited the SPA-SCUT. He delivered a keynote speech themed an overview of social science in comparative social policy in the classroom 105 at No.5 Building. Some postgraduate students were present at the speech.

Dr. Stefan Kuehner began his speech with introducing the definition of social policy in relation to its traditional conceptions and origins, and then extended to the regional social policy, specifically focusing on Asia-pacific area.By eliciting the question “why study comparative social policy”, he led the warm group discussion and further addressed the significance of carrying out comparative study in monitoring and appraising social policy.

Lingnan University is well-known in the quality of teaching and researchin the related field of social policy. For better developing academic research collaboration, strengthening students and staff exchange and furthering cement ties between the two institutes, SPA-SCUT has already signed agreements on a series of joint programs with Lingnan University, including 1+1+1 dual master program, short-term visiting program and so forth. Dr. Stefan Kuehner also made a brief introduction about these programs and hoped that more students from SCUT visit and further their study in Lingnan.      

At the Q&A stage, the audience raised a lot of thought-provoking questions on the topic of social policy. Dr. Stefan Kuehner shared his viewpoints and exerted constructive response. The audience were all greatly convinced by his academic passion as well as profound answers, and echoed with warm applause.
