Chinese Social Governance Forum held in SCUT

On 27 November, the symposium themed Structural Reform and Social Governance Systematic Construction was held in SCUT. The Vice President, Professor Xichun ZHANG and the Executive Vice Chair of Chinese Society of Administration Management, Professor Xiaoping Gao and the other guests presented at the meeting.

More than 60 experts in the field of social governance from the Beijing University, Sun Yat-Sen University, Beijing Normal University, Soochow University, Shanghai University, China University of Political Science and Law and Macao Polytechnic Institute were invited to attend the symposium to exchange the current academic frontiers and the focus in terms of social governance from their own perspectives.

During the opening remark, Professor Xichun ZHANG hoped that the seminar could be forged to be a platform which provides exchange and cooperation for researchers, professionals, and practioners in the field of social governance to better boost the development of academic research and become a highlight of SCUT in social science research.

During the symposium, Professor Xiaoping GAO suggested that the first important thing is to figure out the relationship between ‘unity’ and ‘diversity’ in terms of social governance based on the modernization of social governance. The government administration reform and social governance reform should be closely combined with social resources integrated to explore new social governance system for meeting the demands of the current political economy situation.

According to Professor Xing TONG, recognition of current China’s social development stage and the knowing requirements of our citizens are the breakthrough and also focus of current issues in social governance, with ensuring security, resolving conflicts and nurturing self-governance society as core purposes.

Experts and researchers launched discussions in terms of China social governance systematic construction and supply-side reform of social governance, with reciprocally benefits attained.

The seminar was hosted by the SCUT and the Department of International Development Strategic Research of the CCTB, in collaboration with Social Science center of the SCUT, the school of Public Administration of the SCUT, China Center for Comparative Politics and Economics of the CCTB and center for social governance research of the SCUT, aiming at offering solutions to the structural conflict issues due to imbalance between social structure and economic structure under the context of national social changes, for the purpose of deepening social structural reforms as well as inspiring social creativity, furthermore for contributing to the modernization of Social Governance and Governing Capability.
