The Workshop on Risk Culture and Risk Governance held in SCUT

Professor Xinyi PENG and Professor Xing TONG officially opened the center together

 

On 20 December, the workshop themed national risk culture and risk governance was held in the NO. 5 building. The workshop was co-organized by the School of Public Administration of South China University of Technology (SPA), Local Risk Governance Research Center of South China University of Technology and Guangdong Environmental Risk and Emergency Disposal Engineering Technology Research Center. The Executive Vice President of the SCUTMr Xinyi Peng and more than 60 experts from Nanjing University, Tsinghua University, and Chinese Academy of Sciences presented at the meeting.

At the opening ceremony, the Executive Vice President, Professor Xinyi Peng and the Distinguished Professor Xing TONG officially opened the center and awarded certificates for the General Consultant and the members of the Academic Committee.

According to the future development of the center, Professor Xinyi PENG pointed out that the center should follow the latest trend of the development in Risk Governance theoretically and practically, with highlights on the actual problems of local risk governance in the transitional period, for the purpose of positively promoting the modernization of local risk governance and its governability and forging the center to be a first standard national think tank in risk governance.

Professor Xing TONG highlighted the point that the current China risk & emergency management research should be focused on the balance between theoretical ideology and pragmatic solution. Therefore, both approaches should be combined effectively to make great achievements.

24 experts delivered attractive presentations respectively indicated the interdisciplinary characteristics and highlights of Risk Culture and Risk Governance from past to present, from management to big data, from cultural digging to governance system construction, from risk perception to risk control under different perspectives.
