In pursuit of the improvement of social governance system and modernization ofsocial governance capability in Guangdong province, SCUT center for social Governance was approved by Guangdong Social Science Association and established as a Provincial Research Base for Decision-making and consultation in March 2015.

Relying on the SPA-SCUT, the center integrates several research resources including Research Institute of Public Policy, School of Law and School of Marxism etc. What’s more, it makes full use of the superior advantages of SCUT, including but not limited to its inter-disciplinary integration, professional knowledge framework, established exchange platform, solid research foundation, and open policy-making and consulting. It is the only provincial think tank themed with social governance at present.

The Center's mission is to solve the needs of Guangdong social governance theory and practice, attract, gather and integrate related resources at home and abroad, develop multidisciplinary cooperation and well perform its roles including strategy research, talents training and policy-making counseling. The center aims at becoming a high-end think bank that has high standards and important influence in the related field of social governance, which serves as an important platform for promoting national strategy and social development.
