报告摘要：The efficient and safe decomposition of formic acid as a promising energy carrier has become increasingly important. We have developed ruthenium based catalysts containing unique ligands for the selective decomposition of formic acid to H2 and CO2 in water in the absence of any organic additives. A turnover frequency (TOF) up to 12,000 h-1 and a turnover number (TON) of 350,000~1,100,000 at 90 °C were achieved. Efficient production of high-pressure gas of 24.0 MPa (3480 psi) without the formation of CO, was demonstrated. A prototype model car was built.

报告人简介：Kuo-Wei Huang is currently SABIC Chair Associate Professor of Chemical Sciences. He received his B.S. from National University of Taiwan in 1997 (mentor: Prof. Tien-Yau Luh) and Ph.D. from Stanford University in 2004 (mentor: Prof. Robert M. Waymouth). Prior to joining KAUST in 2009 as a founding faculty member, he had been Assistant Professor of Chemistry in National University of Singapore (NUS). He is a co-author of 160 peer-reviewed international publications and a co-inventor of 10 patents and patent applications. He has received numerous awards, including Rising Stars Lectureship, 41st International Conference on Coordination Chemistry (2014), SABIC Chair Professorship (2013-2016), Asian Rising Stars Lectureship, the 15th Asian Chemical Congress (2013), RIKEN Visiting Fellowship (2012); Asian Core Program Lectureship (2012), Certificate of Appreciation from King Abdulaziz and his Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity (MAWHIBA) and Ministry of Education of Saudi Arabia (2011, 2014), UK-Singapore Partners In Science Collaboration Development Award（2008), Gertrude and Maurice Goldhaber Distinguished Fellowship (with Dr. Etsuko Fujita, 2004-2007), Regina Casper Stanford Graduate Fellowship (2002-2004), and Yuan T. Lee Fellowship (1993-1997). He also serves as an Associate Editor of Journal of Saudi Chemical Society (JSCS) and a consultant and trainer for the Saudi Team for International Chemistry Olympiad (STIChO). He is proud of his students’ achievements from his efforts in high school education: 2 sliver and 11 bronze medals in IChO in addition to many national awards in National Olympiad for Scientific Creativity (Ibdaa) and Intel’s ISEF.
