The FBI of the Psychological Files

——A Special Experience of Psychological Event

According to the WHO(World Health Organization), health means that a person is in good condition in terms of physical, mental and social aspects. College students as a special group, are usually caught in sundry psychological pressure in school learning and daily life, which makes the mental health issues widely concerned.

As one of the eight secondary school psychological education stations,  the school invited Dr. Gao, the instructor of the mental health education and counseling, to conduct the FBI of psychological files lecture on June 1, aiming to spread psychological health knowledge and resolve the psychological confusion among teachers and students.  

What is psychology? It's thought to be mysterious. Dr. Gao started with a story of a patient with obsessive-compulsive disorder to explain the diagnostic model of psychology, In fact, we found that most of students that we had ever talked with had caught neurosis, and it's very normal. Depression is a very complex emotional disorder and an extreme emotional manifestation that is associated with many other bad emotionswhich could be aggravated by many emotions such as anxiety. Then, she enumerated several figures: the proportion of people who are suffering from depression is about 10%; the proportion of female sufferers is double than the proportion of the male sufferers; the rate of depression suicide reach up to 1/7. In order to prevent the extreme situation of depression, Dr. Gao reminded us to pay more attention to the abnormalities happening to people around us.

The mental state of a person is complex and diverse, which is constrained by innate genetic factors. Moreover, Dr. Gao indicated that the acquired factors matter most to mental health with an example of  the learning helpless experiment. In order to avoid excessive accumulation of emotional garbage caused by mental illness, we must learn to relax. At the end of mental event, Dr. Gao led teachers and students to participate in the relaxing game, learning about psychological adjustment.
