Chinese Language Programmes |
I. General Chinese (Basic/Intermediate/Advanced)
Duration: Long-Term: 1 semester or 1 academic year
Short-Term: 1-2 months
Each academic year has two semesters. Applicants can choose an appropriate course level according to their Chinese language proficiency.

Basic |
Students are expected to know basic phones and tones, and use about 3,000 words and 1,600 Chinese characters. At the end of the course, students should have a basic command in listening, speaking, reading, and writing which meets the needs of daily living and study. |

Intermediate |
Students will be able to use about 5,200 words and about 2,200 Chinese characters. At the end of the course students should have a good command in listening, speaking, reading, and writing, and can deal with undergraduate courses. |

Advanced |
Students will be able to use about 7,000 words and 4,000 Chinese characters. Students should be able to listen to Chinese radio programs, read Chinese newspapers, and deal with postgraduate study in Chinese. The language skills will enable students to be fully involved in social and work activities such as tourism and business. |

Who can join?
- People who are interested in learning Chinese (Mandarin) and experience Chinese culture
- Participants can be Chinese learners of all proficiency levels, including complete beginners
- Individual applicant is acceptable
When?
- July 19 ¨C August 13, 2010 (4 weeks)
How much will it cost?
- Application fee: RMB 200
- Tuition fees: RMB 2,280
- Optional weekend trips: (Charged according to the actually cost)
- Guangzhou Day tour: RMB 120 (Approx.)
- Zhujiang Bear Group tour: RMB 65 (Approx.)
- Accommodation:
- Twin share (Air-conditioning): RMB 40/day/person
- Single room (Air-conditioning): RMB 60/day/person
