SBA graduate student receives Emerald outstanding paper award

The paper published by SBA graduate student Chen Qianling’17 was recently granted the Emerald Literati Awards for Excellence - Outstanding Paper, which is one of the only 4 from mainland China, by the world’s prestigious academic publisher Emerald.

This year, Emerald selected 245 Outstanding Papers and 513 Highly Commended papers globally in recognition of the prominent research achievements published in 2017. In addition to the 4 outstanding papers, 33 highly recommended papers on the winners list are from mainland China.

Chen’s awarded paper, titled Analyzing customer behavior in mobile app usage, was published in Industrial Management & Data Systems (2017[2]:425-438). It proposes a multiple methods approach to analyze big data extracted from a mobile app, and shows that the analysis enables mobile app developer to identify high-value and mass customers and their patterns of function usage, thereby facilitating product improvement and customization decision making.

The Emerald Literati Awards, which the criteria used to judge are based on 6 areas: internationality, diversity, support for scholarly research, encouragement of applied research (impact), commitment to high quality scholarship, and a desire to ensure reader, author and customer experience is the best it can be, have been celebrating and rewarding the outstanding contributions of authors and reviewers to academic research for over 25 years.
