Dr. Man Yi, Prof. Shen Wenhao, Associate Prof.Chen Xiaoquan etc. co-authored one article about intelligent control strategy of wastewater treatment of pulping and papermaking process published by Environmental Science: Water Research & Technology as cover paper（Environ. Sci.: Water Res. Technol., 2018, 4, 654–662）。

Professor Shen Wenhao and her team established a mathematical model for the biochemical treatment of papermaking wastewater process based on the commercial data from the scientific problems related to the water treatment processes of pulp and paper, and determined important model parameters through experiments. On this basis of these and according to the characteristics of papermaking wastewater treatment process, BPNN-PID and Fuzzy-PID control strategies are developed based on artificial intelligence algorithm. Compared with traditional PID control, the new control strategy has the characteristics of fast response, strong anti-interference ability and reducing energy consumption, provided a theoretical basis and technical support for efficient production of papermaking wastewater treatment process and energy-saving emission reduction.
