“Sino-German Symposium on Polysaccharides: New Chemistry and Materials”was held successfully in our university
time: 2017-10-12

On September 24th till 29th, 2017, “Sino-German Symposium on Polysaccharides: New Chemistry and Materials” which was financial supported by Sino-German Center for Research Promotion, organized by Professor Haisong Qi from the State Key Laboratory of Pulp and Paper Engineering, South China University of Technology, and Professor Kai Zhang from Wood Technology and Wood Chemistry, Georg-August-University of Goettingen, Germany, was held successfully in our university. 45 young scholars from 30 different universities and institutes of China, Germany as well as Austria were participated in this symposium.

The director of the State Key Laboratory of Pulp and Paper Engineering, Professor Fachuang Lu, and the director of the Center of Organic and Polymer Chemistry Institute, Jena University, Germany, Professor Thomas Heinze, gave presentations titled with “Functional cellulose derives” and “Mechanisms of bacterial cellulose to enhance the paper-based materials”, respectively, as invited senior scientists. In all three days symposium, the young scholars presented their own newly obtained research results in the field of polysaccharides and discussed with all participants in the symposium.

On September 28th, all participants were invited to visit the State Key Laboratory of Pulp and Paper Engineering, and further discussed the possibilities of future collaborations.
