SMSE Students Won the Best Team Award and Best Individual Award in the 6th National College Students Concrete Material Design Competition

The 6th National College Students Concrete Material Design Competition was held in Wuhan University of Technology from July 14th to 15th, 2021. The teams from School of Materials Science and Engineering, SCUT won the Best Team Award and Best Individual Award in the Competition.

After three rounds of competitions of theoretical examination, design of concrete mixing ratio and practical operations, Team Two of South China University of Technology won the Best Team Award. Team members are undergraduate students of 2018 Cohort from Inorganic Non-Metallic Materials Class, including Longlong Wang, Zehao Li and Aoxue Yang. Their supervisor, Associate Professor Fangxian Li won the Best Mentor Award.

The team captain, Longlong Wang, stood out in the Competition with solid theoretical foundation and practical abilities, and won the Best Individual Award of the 6th National Concrete Material Design Competition.

The Competition was jointly hosted by China Concrete and Cement-based Products Association (CCPA) and Wuhan University of Technology, and guided by the Higher Education Institutions Teaching Steering Committee in Materials of the Ministry of Education. 144 teams from 80 universities across the country participated in the Competition.


The National College Students Concrete Material Design Competition is the largest competition in the field of building materials and civil engineering for college students in China. It is held every two years and has been held for six times so far. The competition focuses on examining students' theoretical knowledge and practical operation skills. It aims to combine theories with experimental practices, stimulate students' enthusiasm for learning professional knowledge, cultivate creative minds and encourage teamwork.
