On 9 November, 2021, the third Academic Committee Meeting of Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of Luminescence from Molecular Aggregates, South China University of Technology was held online.
Academician Yongfang Li, Director of the Academic Committee, Academician Xiyun Yan, Deputy Director of the Academic Committee, Academician Benzhong Tang, Deputy Director of the Academic Committee, Professor Haiping Xia, Professor Xingyu Jiang, Professor Dan Li, Professor Lei Zheng, Professor Weihua Li, Professor Guangzhao Zhang, Professor Yuguang Ma, Professor Anjun Qin, Deputy Director of Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of Luminescence from Molecular Aggregates, Professor Shuizhu Wu, Professor Zujin Zhao and other committee members attended the meeting. Xinghua Jiang, Deputy Dean of Institute of Science and Technology, SCUT, presided over the opening ceremony of the meeting.
Professor Min Zhu, Vice President of South China University of Technology delivered a welcome speech, expressing thanks to the support and help by all committee members. He gave an oral update on the educational achievements of SCUT and praised the work of Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of Luminescence from Molecular Aggregates.
Academician Yongfang Li, Director of the Academic Committee reported on the progress of Laboratory.
Professor Anjun Qin, Deputy Director of the Laboratory made a year-end summary on the Laboratory. He briefed on the progress of the application of AIE materials in the fields of biology and optoelectronics, as well as the representative research achievements made in AIE polymers and in the open fund projects. He also mentioned the latest industrialization of AIE and the academic activities that have been held by the Laboratory.
Afterwards, young researchers of the Laboratory, Professor Linlin Liu, Professor Quan Niu, and Dr. Lirong Wang gave oral presentations respectively. Professor Liu gave a report entitled "Ultra-high Resolution Electroluminescence Array Based on Electroplating Directional Deposition", mainly introducing the research progress of new materials with high resolution display rate. Professor Niu gave a report entitled "Intrinsic Aging Mechanism of Polymer Light-Emitting Diodes”, which involved two parts: intrinsic aging mechanism of polymer light-emitting diodes and negative capacitance mechanism of organic diodes. Dr. Wang gave a presentation entitled " Design and Biomedical Applications of FLI/MRI Dual-Mode Diagnosis Treatment Integrated Material", introducing the research results of AIE-based dual-mode imaging in cancer detection and other aspects.
Afterwards, all committee members put forward valuable suggestions on the clinical application of AIE biomedical materials and the industrialization of AIE materials and technologies. The Committee also discussed on the future development of the Laboratory, and the applications for 2021 open fund projects of Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of Luminescence from Molecular Aggregates. A total of 26 applications have been received this year, of which 11 were approved after review by the Committee.
At the end of the meeting, Academician Benzhong Tang provided concluding remarks, appreciating the active participation of the attendees and hard work of the researchers of the Laboratory, and expecting the Laboratory to achieve further advancement in research and impact in the future.
