Professor Geoffrey Waterhouse, Chair Professor of South China University of Technology, was recognized in the Web of Science Group as a Highly Cited Researcher 2019 (cross-field; Top 1%, in Materials Science, Chemistry and Physics) on November 19th. Each year since 2002, Web of Science has been updating this list recognizing research scientists who have demonstrated significant and broad influence in a chosen field or fields through the publication of multiple papers – highly cited by their peers – during the past decade.

 

Professor Geoffrey Waterhouse (from the University of Auckland) is a Fellow of the New Zealand Institute of Chemistry (under the Royal Society of New Zealand). He is a Scientific Executive member, Theme Leader (Energy) and Principal Investigator of New Zealand’s MacDiarmid Institute for Advanced Materials & Nanotechnology (a New Zealand Centre of Research Excellence). He holds a number of elected positions in the Australasian synchrotron science community, formerly acting as the New Zealand representative on the Australian Synchrotron User Advisory Committee. He is a Guest Professor in the Key Laboratory of Photochemical Conversion and Optoelectronic Materials of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, a Chair Professor of the South China University of Technology, and a Chair Professor of Shandong  Agricultural University. Prof. Waterhouse has been recognized in the Web of Science Group as a Highly Cited Researcher 2019 (cross-field; Top 1%, in Materials Science, Chemistry and Physics). His research expertise includes nanomaterials synthesis, green energy, solar energy collection and utilization, catalysis, optical sensor fabrication, and the development of novel drug/bioactive delivery platforms and functional packaging materials. He has published 203 SCI journal articles (mean impact factor ~ 8.5; the highest single paper citation up to 850).
