2011 salon of deans of SMSE of famous universities held at SCUT

On Nov. 11, the 2011 salon of deans of School of Material Science and Engineering (SMSE) of some famous universities as well as the 2nd Symposium for the Cultivation of Postgraduates and Excellent Engineers in Material Science were held at the Shaw Building of Sciences, SCUT. Deans from 15 national famous universities gathered to discuss the cultivation of postgraduates and excellent engineers, including Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT), Northwestern Polytechnical University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Tianjin University, Sichuan University and Tongji University etc.
At the symposium, representatives gave plenary speeches with respects to exploration of cultivation mode for undergraduates, postgraduate education & quality control, cultivation plan for excellent engineers, discipline construction and personnel construction etc. Moreover, they made an in-depth discussion about admission, postgraduate recommendation and extracurricular practice as well.
It is learned that the salon was initiated by numbers of Deans of SMSE of famous universities. The first salon was held at HIT in 2010, and the one next year will be held at Shandong University.
