1.      Program Objective

(1) Civil Engineering: including geotechnical engineering, structural engineering, disaster prevention and reduction engineering, protection engineering and bridge and tunnel engineering.

1) Geotechnical engineering: the main research contents are underground structure, foundation treatment, geotechnical dynamics and seismic engineering, groundwater and environmental geotechnical engineering, etc.

2) Structural engineering: the main research contents are high-rise building structure, long-span spatial structure, reinforced concrete structure, steel structure, prestressed structure and composite structure.

3) Disaster prevention engineering: the main research contents include structural earthquake resistance, structural wind resistance, structural fire resistance, structural vibration control, structural health monitoring and damage diagnosis, geological disaster evaluation and prevention, solid waste recycling, etc.

4) Bridge and tunnel engineering: the main research contents are long-span bridge structure, bridge evaluation and reinforcement, vibration and stability of bridge structure, bridge structure theory, tunnel structure theory, etc.

(2) Civil engineering construction and management: the main research contents include construction technology and management, project management, engineering economy, BIM simulation analysis, etc.

(3) Water engineering: the main research contents are urban flood disaster prevention and control, watershed water ecological environment restoration, hydraulics and river dynamics, water resources planning and management, intelligent water affairs, etc.

3.      Program Duration

A designed duration for the Master program is 3 years. The maximum duration is 5 years. 

4.      Study pattern

The cultivation of postgraduates with academic degrees mainly adopts the combination of curriculum learning, scientific research, academic exchange and social practice, and implements the Tutor (tutor group) responsibility system. To carry out the principle of paying equal attention to both curriculum and thesis, we should not only systematically study theory, but also conduct more in-depth scientific research; or go deep into production to solve engineering and technical problems. Focus on Cultivating Postgraduates' ability to conduct independent scientific research and solve practical engineering problems, and strengthen the education of situation, policy, ideal, law and discipline, moral quality and patriotism. Master students should work out a training plan within two weeks after admission under the guidance of their tutors. 

5.      Credit Requirement

The minimum total credits are 32, including 10 credits for public compulsory courses, no less than 10 credits for professional basic courses, no less than 10 credits for professional elective courses and no less than 2 credits for public elective courses. 

6.      Compulsory activities

(1) Social practice

Social practice is a compulsory training link for master students with academic degrees. The social practice of master's degree students must be carried out under the guidance of their tutors, and those who study for master's degree on the job can be exempted from social practice. After the completion of social practice work, fill in and submit the social practice assessment form for Postgraduates of South China University of technology. The specific requirements shall be implemented in accordance with the implementation measures for the integration of graduate students' participation in social practice into the training link of South China University of Technology (for Trial Implementation).

(2) Academic activities

Master students should participate in more than 10 academic reporting activities (two of which are interdisciplinary) during the semester, and fill in the assessment form for graduate students of South China University of technology to participate in academic conferences (Lectures) each time. If a master's student attends an international academic conference with English as the working language and publishes an English conference paper with South China University of technology as the first signatory, a doctoral student as the first author or a supervisor as the first author and himself as the second author, he can be regarded as participating in five academic conferences.

1.      Program Objective

 4.      Study pattern

Professional degree postgraduates are mainly trained by the combination of course learning, professional practice and degree (graduation) thesis. The cumulative time of professional practice shall generally not be less than 6 months (the professional practice time of master's degree in engineering without 2 years of enterprise work experience shall not be less than 1 year). Generally, the dissertation shall not be less than 1 year.

(1) Professional practice

Professional practice is an important link in the cultivation of professional degree postgraduates. The practice of graduate students in enterprises and institutions can adopt the combination of centralized practice and segmented practice. During the semester, the cumulative time of professional practice of Postgraduates shall generally not be less than 6 months (the professional practice time of postgraduates with engineering degree without 2 years of enterprise work experience shall not be less than 1 year). The professional practice of part-time professional degree postgraduates can be carried out in combination with their own job tasks. 1.      Program Objective

The cultivation of doctoral students with academic degrees mainly adopts the combination of curriculum learning, scientific research, academic exchange and teaching practice, and implements the Tutor (tutor group) responsibility system. Cultivate the ability to focus on scientific research, independently engage in creative scientific research, master scientific methods and establish a rigorous style. Doctoral students should work out a training plan within two weeks after admission under the guidance of their tutors.

 5.      Credit Requirement

Minimum total credits: 11, minimum credits of public compulsory courses: 5, minimum credits of professional basic courses: 2, minimum credits of professional and public elective courses: 4.

 6.      Compulsory activities

(1) Teaching practice

Teaching practice is a compulsory part of the cultivation of doctoral students with academic degrees, and the form of teaching practice is to serve as course assistant. Doctoral students with academic degrees must undertake teaching assistants for at least one course for one semester in order to complete the training of teaching practice. Doctoral students with academic degrees as teaching assistants are included in the qualification examination conditions for graduation. The specific requirements shall be implemented in accordance with the implementation rules for the teaching practice and training of doctoral students with academic degrees of South China University of technology. (2) Academic activities

Doctoral students should participate in more than 15 academic reporting activities (three of which are interdisciplinary) during the semester, and fill in the assessment form for graduate students of South China University of technology to participate in academic conferences (Lectures) each time. Doctoral students who participate in international academic conferences held abroad and publish English conference papers with South China University of technology as the first signatory and doctoral students as the first author can be regarded as participating in five academic conferences.
