From June 4-6, 2017, World Transport Convention 2017, organized by China Association of Science and Technology and China Highway & Transportation Society, was held in Beijing National Convention Center. Shang Yong. The party committee secretary, executive vice president and the first secretary of China Association of Science and Technology, presided over the opening ceremony.

 The World Transport Convention 2017 was organized by the Ministry of Transport, Chinese Academy of Engineering, State Railway Administration, China Civil Aviation Administration and China Railway Corporation. China Highway and Transportation Society. It was also supported by International Road Federation and other Associations around the world. The conference consisted of about 1300 academic reporters of 220 sessions. More than 5000 experts of transportation took further discussion over Transportation of the Belt and Road, technology of high-speed railway, future transportation, development of large span bridge, intelligent transportation, sharing economy and green commuting, trend of advanced technology and other hot topics. The thematic forums were also organized by Highway Engineering Department, Structural Engineering Department, Air Transport Department, Water Transport Department, Transportation Planning Department, Traffic Engineering Department, Interdisciplinary Department, and Rail Transportation Department.

School of Civil Engineering and Transportation, South China University of Technology, was fully involved in the preparation and organization of the conference. Dean Su Cheng led the delegation of teachers to participate in this event. As chairman of the subject of Pavement Inspection and Maintenance, Dean Su Cheng also organized presided over 30 academic reports of five thematic sessions, including bridge inspection and condition assessment. Dr. Yu Jiangmiao, Dr. Chen Yekai and Dr. Yu Xiaolin of our school have separately served as the chairman of the Academic Committee of 'Asphalt Pavement Multi-scale Mechanics and Characteristic Analysis', 'Pavement Inspection and Maintenance', 'Bridge Inspection and Condition Assessment'. Besides, they also organized several related sessions.

School of Civil Engineering and Transportation, South China University of Technology took part in the preparation, organization and academic communication in the World Transport Convention, which enhanced academic exchanges, broadened minds and improved communication with researchers at China and abroad.
