time: 2017-05-03

Title: 20 years of study of conical tanks - from theory to practice
Speaker: Prof. Ashraf El Damatty (University of Western Ontario, Canada)
Time: Thursday, May 4, 2017, 03:00 p.m.
Venue: Room 7201,Building No.7,WuShan Campus

Contents: The study of liquid-filled conical tanks involved finite element development, buckling studies of unstiffened tanks and then stiffened steel tanks, seismic analysis and testing, concrete tanks, composite concrete steel tanks, development of design methods and structure optimization. This is a nice example for focusing on a subject and making an international impact.
